Macao LRT Celebrates Chinese New Year with Special Activities and Public Event at Barra Station on 14 February

Macao Light Rapid Transit Corporation, Limited (hereinafter referred to as “MLM”) will launch the special series of activities “LRT Brings Prosperity for the 2026 New Year” to celebrate the Chinese New Year with residents and tourists, including the unprecedented launch of trains decorated in festive colors, and a public event at Barra Station, on February 14, featuring interactive experiences.

The event “LRT Brings Prosperity to Barra for the 2026 New Year” will take place on February 14 (the 27th day of the 12th lunar month) at Barra Station (Entrance A), from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, featuring the free distribution of Chinese New Year couplets and “lai si” red envelopes to be decorated with festive stamps, allowing residents and tourists to experience the festive atmosphere in advance.

MLM will invite calligraphy enthusiasts to write auspicious messages on Chinese New Year couplets, which will be offered to the public. Participants will also have the chance to write their own good luck messages. Additional activities include painting and drawing experiences, as well as a selection of festive stamps, enabling parents and children to unleash their creativity and enjoy family moments together. Starting February 14, the Taipa Line will feature a Chinese New Year–themed train, specially decorated inside and out to create a festive atmosphere for passengers. Another train with a surprise theme will also be revealed during the Chinese New Year period to share the joy of the season with riders. The Macao LRT mascot, “Heng Chai”, will appear at stations during the festivities to extend New Year greetings, interact with passengers, and distribute small festive gifts.
