The “opening” of the LRT Barra Station
The service of Macao LRT Taipa Line officially extends to Barra station today (8th), which connects Taipa and Macao for the first time.

Mr Ho Cheong Kei, the Chairman of the Board of Administration of Macao Light Rapid Transit Corporation, Limited), said that the LRT service connected Taipa and the Macau Peninsula for the first time after the opening of Barra Station, and the first sea-crossing section of LRT was established. Mr Ho expected that the extension of the LRT service would provide more options for travel modes, would be able to better serve its role as a mass transit carrier, and would bring more citizens and tourists to access the community.

The first train departed from Barra Station started at 6:30 pm. Members of the Board of Administration gave souvenirs to passengers at Barra Station before the departure of the first train.

Trains of the LRT Taipa Line run between Barra Station and Ocean Station via the lower ground of Sai Van Bridge. The total stations of Taipa Line increase to 12 stations and the length of Taipa Line increases to 12.5 kilometres, as the total journey time increases to approximately 27 minutes.

LRT Barra Station is adjacent to Barra Public Traffic Interchange on Avenida Panorâmica Do Lago Sai Van. Passengers can take a bus to the “Avenida Panorâmica do Lago Sai Van/Ponte-Cais da Barra” bus stop, and then go directly to the platform of LRT Barra Station to take a Taipa-bound train via a convenient concourse.
